I have two new song obsessions - from one out of two of my current all-time favourite Japanese teen idol group Berryz Koubou; literally 'Berryz Workshop'.Before I move on, here's the background information of this seven-teen group (taken from Wikipedia - it has quite a lot of info, but Imma putting up the group's main background info; member info and pictures taken from HelloProject.com START! Berryz Kobo (Berryz工房 literally 'Berryz Workshop'. Sometimes romanized as Berryz Koubou or Berryz Kōbō) is a J-pop group within Hello! Project. The original eight members are originally from Hello! Project Kids and often are back-up dancers for W (Double You)'s music videos. Prior to the band's formation, some members worked with members of Morning Musume in such side projects as Aa! and ZYX, and in the Mini Moni movie Okashina Daibouken. They were first announced at a Hello! Project Club Event on January 14, 2004. Hello! Project promoted the band by releasing three singles within a month of each other, starting in March 2004 with "Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai". Their first album, 1st Cho Berryz, followed the trilogy of debut singles in July 2004. In February 2007, Berryz Kobo made news headlines after it was announced that the group would be holding a concert at Saitama Super Arena on April 1. Not only did the tickets for the two performances sell out (a total of 20,000 seats) almost two months before the premiere, but this event also marked an historical record in that the band officially became the first to perform in the arena, whose members average age did not exceed 14 years (thereby dethroning Morning Musume, whose average was 16.3). END! Said two songs are from their newest album 5(Five) - yes, it's their fifth album... they have eleven song in this album. The two songs I'm obsessed with currently are 'Baka ni Shinai de' and 'Ah Merry-Go-Round' - both the third and fifth track in the album respectively. Would have a picture of Captain, Miyabi, Yurina and Risako here, but can't find any with all four of them in the same picture without the other members. >< 'Baka ni Shinai de' - literally translated to 'don't be an idiot' by me - is sung by Sugaya Risako (the main vocalist of the group, but needs to get less lines and camera time IMO), Natsuyaki Miyabi (another one of the main vocalist), Kumai Yurina (uh... sub-vocalist? LOL) and Captain Shimizu Saki (she needs more lines! D< [yes, I'm a Saki fan, so sue me ><]). 'Ah Merry-Go-Round' - no translation needed - is sung by Captain Shimizu Saki and Tsugunaga Momoko (another main vocalist). I have been waiting for a duet between these two (there was one in an earlier album with Captain Shimizu Saki and Natsuyaki Miyabi called 'Sprinter') and here it is! Whooo! Their voices compliment each other's so well, from what I read from the reviews, they were surprised - Momoko has a pretty high-pitched voice, and Captain's voice is slightly on the low side IMO. And here, I present... the preview of their album, 5(Five). Vid credits to youtube and the uploader LOL. And I end my spam. LOL~ Labels: Berryz Koubou powered by blogger, yo. |
